Itinerary:
An expert Egyptologist guide from Around Egypt Tours will meet with you early in the morning at an agreed time to start the magnificent day of the tour of the Great Pyramids. See one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—the majestic Pyramid of King Cheops—along with the impressive pyramids of King Khafre (Chephren) and King Mycerinus. Known for its grandeur and preservation, the Giza Pyramids could rival those of the world. Indeed, the edifice speaks for itself with all man's genius in the Fourth Dynasty architecture, dating back to Old Kingdom times. When you get to Giza, you will also visit the Great Sphinx, a unique rock sculpture featuring the head of a pharaoh and the body of a lion.  You will go to Khafre's Valley Temple, the unique structure built in the Pyramid era for mummification purposes. It is the monument built by King Khafre, the son of Cheops, and younger brother to King Djedefre. After Giza, you will stop for a nice Egyptian lunch before continuing on your journey to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, Egypt's heart. Here, more than 160,000 artifacts can be viewed, including those of Tutankhamun's treasures and a really vast collection of ancient gold and jewelry, hidden in the sands for centuries until their discovery in 1922.
This extension is possible only if the time is there; you can visit Coptic Cairo and some of its historical places like the Hanging Church, Church of St. Sergius and Bacchus, the Roman fortress of Babylon, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. For a cultural touch of shopping, it would be best to go to Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest Middle Eastern markets.
This approximately 8-hour tour will take you on a complete tour of the Giza Pyramids, and it is perfect for families traveling with small children or teenagers. It is recommended to wear light-color clothes; hats and sunscreen will also be necessary for this once-in-a-lifetime experience of a Cairo day tour.
